Packing Tips

Dress for durability: When on community visits, your clothes may get wet, sweaty and dirty; so don’t bring your favorite jeans.
Dress for comfort and check the weather forecast: Bring walking shoes, comfortable clothes and don;t forget the forecast. Athens can get very cold in winter, and very hot in summer!
Keep electronics at a minimum: Leave hair dryers and most major electronics at home. European power converters and adaptors will be needed for any electronics.
Pack light: A large backpack or duffle bag should fit everything you’ll need to bring. Remember to leave some room in your bag to bring presents home! Also, we recommend not checking any personal baggage in case it is misplaced by the airline. If the airline loses baggage, Global Brigades is not liable for the contents.4
Bring your meds (if applicable): Keep your personal medications in their original prescription bottles and always in your carry-on luggage. We recommend only bringing the amount of medication necessary for the length of the trip. Be sure to follow security guidelines if the medicines are liquids.
Be prepared: Always carry a copy of your passport and other important documents on you.

DOCUMENTS
- Passport (& visa Green card if needed) *please verify entry/exit requirements prior to travel
- A photocopy of your passport in a separate location, passport must be valid for 6 months after your departure.
- Flight itinerary

- Copy of Immunization records,**Original and copy of Covid 19 vaccination card if applicable**.
- Driver’s License and Student ID needed for the Acropolis visit (if applicable).

TOOLS FOR BRIGADE ACTIVITIES
- 1 Laptop for every 5 students or per every sub-group.

Personal Items

Bring cash, for the airport, and if your group agrees to visit the Acropolis (+/- 50 euros).

- Note: We recommend that you bring around $50-$100 per week of your time in-country, which will be used only for souvenirs/snacks. This is separate from the Acropolis visit money (if applicable).
